Outdoor recreation is regarded as a vital component to West Virginia’s economy and future. Our state is blessed with many beautiful natural assets which are showcased within a vast network of land and water trails.
We have an opportunity to work together at both regional and statewide levels to build a strong network among trail advocates and their communities.
Our goal is to enable positive change for our trail systems by securing increased funding, inspiring broader planning, and creating a platform to communicate our state’s numerous trail success stories.
Advocate
Build a path towards positive policy change in West Virginia.
Support an updated, modern reform to the WV Statewide Trails Plan.
Network
Bring together a collective voice of trail planners and trail users.
Provide adequate information to connect all relevant groups at a statewide level.

Build a Community of Trail Leaders
Identify and retain leaders who are involved in the planning and implementation of various types of trails.
Work together to ensure the allocation of necessary resources in order to help connect leaders both regionally and throughout the state of West Virginia.

Activate a Legislative Caucus
Promote the importance of trail systems within the state and use our success to encourage the formation of a Legislative Caucus.
An effective caucus will identify statewide issues impacting trails, recommend strategies to address issues, and establish policies to fix these issues.

Build Momentum for an Updated Statewide Trails Action Plan
Let’s use promotion of our trail assets to bring attention to the need for a statewide, comprehensive trails plan.
By encouraging use of our trail systems, we can create grassroots advocates that will help ensure the future promotion of our cause.
